Glastonbury Backpackers is situated in the historic Crown Hotel, a 16th-century coaching inn set in the heart of Glastonbury. It's a unique, vibrant and colourful place to stay whether for one night or longer. With easy access to all the local attractions and the surrounding countryside According to Arthurian legend, Glastonbury, or the Isle of Avalon as it was formerly known, is the burial place of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. The ancient town of Glastonbury is shrouded in legend and myth. It reputedly hosts the first Christian Church, founded by Joseph of Arimathea, who is said to have buried the Holy Grail at the foot of the Tor (a 526ft-high hill which still dominates the landscape today). More recently, the town has become famous for its religious and cultural festivals and events, most notably at Glastonbury Abbey and, of course, the famous Glastonbury Music Festival held every year just outside the town. The town centre itself boasts many shops and restaurants, all with the unique style and atmosphere that is Glastonbury. |

Globe Backpackers has recently opened its second backpacker hostel in South West England. Excellently positioned in the historic city of Plymouth, the hostel is housed in a wonderful grand four-storey Victorian town house built in 1830. Since buying Plymouth Backpackers, we have painted and carpeted from top to bottom and improved other amenties including increasing the shower facilities throughout the building. We offer a top quality hostel with homely and friendly environment - this is the kind of place where you’ll come for the night and stay for the week! The hostel is on the Citadel Road which is just off The Hoe where Sir Francis Drake famously spotted the approaching Armada. A 10 minute walk from the ferry port and just 5 minutes walk to The Barbican; the ancient cobbled heart of Plymouth filled with a great mix of pubs, bars and exciting eateries! Around the corner are the Mayflower Steps commemorating the sailing of the Mayflower, which took the Pilgrim Fathers to the New World. Plymouth is also the home of the National Marine Aquarium and boasts Europe's’ deepest tank with resident robotic shark. A holiday resort without the
"tack"! If you are looking for arcades and piers you may be disappointed!
Victorian architecture still dominates the town dating back to when the
resort was born. The English Riviera benefits from the mildest climate on the British mainland. On a balmy summers night, sitting out around the harbour there is almost mediterranean atmosphere. |

Exeter is one of the oldest cities in the country, and Capital of Devon.
William The Conqueror built Rougemont Castle here in 1067. Come and see
Shakespeare in the Gardens of Rougemont July/August. Exeter is also a
Cathedral and University City. The Cathedral dates from 1100’s and has
the longest vaulted nave in the World! Our Medieval quarter boasts the
longest remaining medieval bridge ruins in the country. Exeter is 15 minutes
by car/bus to Dartmoor National Park. One of the few remaining areas of
largely unspoilt, uncultivated and untamed country left in the south of
England. Devon has some absolutely fabulous coastline, and Exeter is spitting
distance from a number of beautiful beaches. Our coastline offers the
best shipwreck diving in the country. The region is great for walking,
mountain biking, horse-riding, white water kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling,
caving and windsurfing. Exeter Festival - Art & Culture festival www.exeter.gov.uk/festival.
